We rejected Aware Super’s offer! Next steps

The results are in, and a majority of us voted NO to Aware Super’s substandard offer for a new Enterprise Agreement!

Congratulations – this is the first important step to securing the agreement we all deserve.

Management’s offer contained some dangerous elements, including normalising overtime for many employees, no increases to superannuation, redundancy or paid parental leave, and a requirement to take a quarter of our annual leave over Christmas, whether we like it or not.

What’s next?

We now call on Aware Super to urgently recommence negotiations and fulfil their legal obligation to bargain in good faith. They must demonstrate that they have listened to us by improving their offer. If Aware Super does not prioritise further negotiations, our union will escalate the matter to the Fair Work Commission if necessary.

Voting ‘no’ is a big win, but we’ve still got a ways to go – and we can only shift management’s position if we all work together.

That starts with joining our union to ensure you are protected and supported through this next important phase. If you’re not yet a member of the team that’s fighting for better pay and conditions at Aware Super, now is the time to join.

Congratulations once again on voting no and helping us progress to the next stage of securing a better offer.
