We took action to stop Suncorp offshoring weekend work

Since Suncorp announced its decision to outsource the weekend work of the Motor Claims team to the Philippines, the FSU has been working tirelessly to push them to reverse this devastating decision.

We wrote to Suncorp CEO Steve Johnson calling on him to step in. We wrote to the Queensland Treasurer, The Hon. Cameron Dick, to highlight this issue and ask that he intervene to keep local jobs in our local community. And we wrote again to Suncorp to dispute this damaging decision and ask that they retract it. We also kicked off robust discussions with Suncorp management.

Today, we’ve achieved a significant win.

Thanks to our tireless efforts in advocating on behalf of our members, Suncorp has agreed to extend the consultation period on this issue by a further two weeks.

All workers impacted by this decision will soon receive an email from Suncorp about this extension. You will also have a one-on-one meeting with your manager during this period.

This is a big win because it means we now have an opportunity to let Suncorp know, through these meetings, that this decision is not okay and will have a massive detrimental impact to Suncorp staff and our families.

We encourage you to share your stories of how this is significantly and negatively impacting each and every one of us at Suncorp – now is the time for us to speak up and turn this around!

Make sure to provide any other details that will support our case – the personal and financial implications this decision will have on you, what your roster preferences are, the impact to your wellbeing and more.

The FSU is here to support you and can accompany you to your meeting if required.
