Westpac cuts more jobs - 24 branches to close

In yet another blow to community services and our jobs, Westpac has announced a proposal to close 24 more branches impacting 76 employees across the country. The branches scheduled to close under the bank’s latest proposal are listed below.

FSU members have only recently presented our secure work EA claim to the Bank which makes this latest announcement even more insensitive towards impacted staff. This proposal would remove banking services from communities and cost FSU members their jobs. It all raises the question, how far is the bank prepared to go in the name of cost cutting, branch closures and job cuts?

If you’ve received a notification about this and have questions or concerns, please let us know.

It is vital that all affected members examine the changes and communicate any concerns we may have direct to the bank. Our union can offer advice and support for all members who are affected.

Secure work continues to be a focus in our negotiations around a new enterprise agreement. Keep a look out for further FSU bargaining updates and check out our FSU Westpac bargaining website by going here.
