Westpac Says No
to Our COVID
Essential Allowance

Dear Westpac Group Colleagues,

We’re upset, disappointed, and angry.

Westpac fails to value us as essential frontline staff.

At 9:30am today, we met with Ross Miller, Chief Customer Engagement Officer and Mark Melvin, State GM Westpac VIC/TAS.

We shared our stories about how this second lockdown has caused us additional stress and anxiety.

They said an allowance won’t make us safer.

We said even the best PPE won’t keep us safe from COVID.

They said they’ve reduced branch hours and suspended targets.

We said this doesn’t take away the risk—the risk that we take every day on the frontlines, serving our communities.

This isn’t over until we are recognised and valued as essential staff members.
