Your union disputes unrecognised hours of work at Westpac

Last week, our Union lodged a dispute with senior management on behalf of members in 4 areas of the Retail network. FSU members have reported that unpackaged branch staff have been told not to record additional hours on timesheets when performing duties that are required to be completed by the close of business. This is unacceptable and leaves employees worse off.

You can read the FSU dispute letter here.

Branch Managers are being thrown under the bus

We are concerned that branch managers have been unlawfully directed by senior management not to approve additional hours when their staff are performing required duties. These duties include end of day cash balancing, handling balancing discrepancies, and performing compliance/security functions. We are calling on senior levels of management to address what is a flawed business model that relies on unrecognised additional hours in parts of the branch network.

Are you working additional hours that are not recognised?

It is important that senior management allocate workloads and staffing levels that allow work to be completed within reasonable hours. If you believe you are working excessive hours (anywhere across the Group) then we would like to hear from you. Please take the time to provide your confidential feedback.

In addition to providing your invaluable feedback, we encourage all unpackaged FSU members to accurately complete your timesheets. FSU members who are packaged should ensure that any additional hours you work are reasonable.

Look out for further updates and meetings around this important dispute.
