CBA cuts 58 Bankwest jobs, posts $2.6 billion profit

Having just posted a $2.6 billion profit in the March quarter only days ago, CBA has now announced it will make a further 163 job cuts.

58 jobs will be slashed from Bankwest, with a majority located in Western Australia.

Bankwest has already shut their entire branch and ATM network, shortly after committing to the WA Government that it would create 500 new jobs. The announcement also follows an additional 130 job cuts from earlier this year.

These latest cuts will come from the bank’s retail technology and private banking areas – so once again, it is dedicated employees and the community who will suffer at the expense of increasing the bank’s record profits.
