Job cuts to hit Bankwest Business Banking Transition Team – are you impacted?

Despite promising the Western Australian Government that it would create 500 more jobs following the closure of its retail and ATM network, CBA has announced another 130 roles will be made redundant at Bankwest. 122 of these jobs will be lost from Western Australia.

These cuts, which will occur over the next three months, will come from the Bankwest Business Banking Transition Team – the very team that has helped customers migrate from Bankwest to CBA.

It’s a slap in the face, especially given the uncertainty over the past three years for staff and customers. Staff are understandably anxious about what this means for them.

CBA has already cut 260 roles, bringing Bankwest job cuts to nearly 400, most of which are in Western Australia.

We are requesting a meeting with WA Treasurer Rita Saffioti to call on the WA Government to step in and address this urgently. The government has been sold a pup, and must hold CBA accountable for abandoning Bankwest staff, along with their customers and local communities.

Support and your entitlements

We understand this is difficult news for affected employees, and these changes could have a significant impact on your life and livelihood.

If you are impacted by these proposed job cuts, let us know so that we can provide you with support and representation during the consultation process.

Yes, I’m impacted by these cuts

We know many Bankwest members are already feeling overworked across many areas of the bank due to relentless job cuts and offshoring – we are calling on CBA to redeploy as many of the 130 roles cut to areas that are already short staffed in Bankwest.
