Last week, Victorian Parliament heard from 58 working women (including FSU members) as they bravely shared their personal stories about gender violence at work.
They spent the day meeting with over 50 MPs, making sure they understood the importance of stopping sexual harassment in the workplace and putting an end to the misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
NDAs often hurt the victims more than they help. They mainly work to protect people who harass others, while saving face for the employers who let it happen. NDAs silence victims and allow harmful behaviour to continue in secret.
By sharing their stories, our members and working women showed just how much harm gender violence can cause in the workplace and how important it is to change the rules to better protect workers. Through their powerful stories and strong voices, they are calling for a big change to better protect everyone from workplace gender violence.
