Acenda job cuts – FSU support
Acenda has announced two rounds of redundancies, which are expected to impact approximately…
Acenda’s proposed Enterprise Agreement has been voted up by 56% of voters.
We know this result is disappointing for the many FSU members who fought hard against it. This outcome was by no means a strong endorsement of Acenda’s proposal – indeed, it’s a missed opportunity to make the Acenda Group an industry leader.
However, by standing together throughout this process and demanding better, we've built a strong community that will only continue to grow. While Acenda management can force staff into meetings and send emails at any time, we rely on people power – and with just 180 votes short, we came close to turning down this substandard offer.
Please forward this email to your colleagues to let them know about the next steps.
FSU members are encouraged to attend our next FSU meeting on Wednesday to discuss next steps around our Agreement, working from home, and future redundancies.
All Acenda employees are then encouraged to attend our all-staff meeting on Thursday.
Acenda will now prepare an application for the proposed Agreement to be approved by the Fair Work Commission. Our union will prepare a submission to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
Unfortunately, we suspect that Acenda will soon announce new waves of redundancies and will continue to get more people back into the office.
If you are not yet a member of our union, now is the time to join and to ask others to join – both for individual support and assistance and to ensure our union community is strong at Acenda.
Remember, this Enterprise Agreement is the beginning of our efforts to improve our working lives at Acenda, not the end. We will continue to hold Acenda to account and take steps to secure a better redundancy process and the kind of flexible work that staff deserve.
