Another 150 jobs slashed by Westpac – Urgent FSU meeting

Westpac have delivered yet another devastating round of job cuts, slashing 150 jobs in just two weeks and bringing the total number of jobs cut that we’ve been made aware of to nearly 1000.

Last week, 40 roles were cut including the closure of a further five Westpac branches before the end of the year. To add further insult to injury, Westpac this week slashed another 112 jobs.

The areas impacted by this round of cuts are:

  • Group Procurement
  • Group Property, Leasing and Workplace Teams
  • Transformation Delivery Model Consumer and Business and Wealth Divisions
  • Westpac Institutional Banking – Technology
  • Westpac Institutional Banking – Business Controls, Monitoring and Remediation.

When will the cuts end?

Westpac has been vicious in delivering round after round of job cuts since May this year, with no end in sight.

Nearly 1000 jobs have been lost – this equals 40,000 hours of work each week that must now be picked up by those who remain, when we know staff are already overworked and close to burnout.

Join our FSU meeting on Monday 11 September, 7pm (AEST) – we strongly encourage those impacted by this latest round of cuts to join the meeting so we can best support you.

REGISTER NOW: Monday 11 Sept, 7pm (AEST)

Please continue to tell us how these job cuts have impacted you and if you have been left to pick up the pieces on our campaign page here – we’ll make sure your feedback is delivered to Westpac loud and clear.
