Bankwest staff condemn bank closures – have your say

Last night, hundreds of FSU members came together about the decision by Bankwest Executive General Manager Jason Chan to cut 350 frontline jobs by closing Bankwest’s entire branch and ATM network.

Members said they felt dismayed at the disrespectful and tone-deaf way management had communicated the decision, with little to no information available to those directly affected.

At the meeting, we passed a resolution condemning this decision and the careless approach taken by Jason Chan, while committing to work together to protect our jobs and vital bank branches.

We have written to Jason to demand an urgent meeting to share your feedback, questions, and concerns. This is your opportunity to have a say on the sweeping and devastating branch closures.

We need to hear from as many colleagues as possible. Please forward this email to your team and those working in surrounding bank branches so they can have a say too.

Many members have also been asking questions about their rights through this difficult situation. Remember, you do not need to accept an alternate role with CBA if you don’t want to. There are options available to you – read our fact sheet on redundancy, redeployment and retrenchment to understand your rights.
