In December, your FSU Representatives met with BOQ Group management to hold the bank to account for its plan to cut 400 FTE jobs by 2026 as part of its “simplification agenda”.
BOQ confirmed with us that this reduction already includes 100 FTE jobs from 2023, 150 jobs in the first quarter of 2024. They said there are no particular areas or location for the remaining 150 FTE jobs but that this would occur through “natural attrition” having consideration for workloads.
Following this meeting, we wrote to BOQ asking them for a series of commitments and safeguards. These included filling vacancies as a default position, reviewing the use of agency staff or, if necessary, seeking voluntary redundancies from staff before announcing forced redundancies.
Their response?
After six weeks, BOQ has finally responded to say they could only “anticipate” a reduction in roles through natural attrition and would not commit to any of the measures outlined in our letter beyond fulfilling their minimum legal obligations under the BOQ Enterprise Agreement (EA).
Don’t think this is good enough?
