CBA/Bankwest Enterprise Agreement – ballot FAQs

After months of negotiations and campaigning, we have secured an improved pay offer at CBA and Bankwest. With this new pay offer, along with other improvements we have negotiated, the FSU Bargaining Team has reached in-principle agreement for our new Enterprise Agreement.

CBA and Bankwest employees will soon be asked to vote on whether they accept this proposed agreement. Read our FAQs below for information on how this process works, how you should vote, and more.

Your FSU Bargaining Team, supported by you FSU Workplace Representatives, believe that this proposal is the best outcome that can be achieved through the negotiation process and comes as a result of FSU members taking action to shift the bank from its pay position - twice.

Prior to a vote taking place, CBA is required to provide all employees with seven days for you to review and understand the proposal (this is called the access period). This includes giving you access to the draft Enterprise Agreement and documents that explain terms of the proposed agreement and the effect of those terms.

For a ballot to be successful, it requires 50% +1 of employees who vote, to vote in favour. Once this is achieved, the Agreement requires approval by the Fair Work Commission before it is then effective. Until then, the current expired Agreements continue to apply.

If a majority vote against the proposal, the Agreement will not be lodged for approval by the Fair Work Commission. This would result in a delay to new terms and conditions becoming effective, and delay to any proposed pay increases. We would consult with FSU members prior to recommencing negotiations with CBA. It is uncertain how CBA would respond and the timeframe for a further ballot to take place.

None - STVR payments are not contained within the Agreement. The term ‘discretionary’ refers to any increase to your salary. This is separate from any performance bonus you receive, such as STVR or PRP.

This position has been achieved without any major cuts to existing conditions. CBA had tabled several changes during the negotiations, and we were able tooppose many of these, including proposed changes to rest break entitlements and RDOs.

This is not the end of our campaign for a Better Way at CBA – we will need FSU members and all CBA employees to be engaged and active, as we continue the fight for improved conditions for all staff.
