CBA’s latest cuts to frontline services – Your rights and FSU support

In yet another blow to frontline banking services, CBA has confirmed it will cut a further 119 jobs, with half a dozen impacted by automation.

Impacted employees have already been notified, with areas including Home Buying, Product Pricing and Analytics, and Risk and Group Strategy.

The FSU understands that 43 of these cuts will be from Bankwest, with many of these jobs to include mobile lending managers who play an important role in guiding communities through a challenging home loan application process.

We understand this is difficult news and many members are rightfully anxious about what these cuts mean for them. Under our CBA and Bankwest Enterprise Agreements, you have important rights during periods of major workplace change.

Management is required to:

  • consult with you about the proposed changes
  • discuss the potential impacts the changes may have on you
  • genuinely consider any feedback or proposed alternatives you raise
  • implement measures to prevent or reduce negative impacts where possible.

We encourage workers to engage in the consultation process, provide your feedback about the changes and how they will impact you and your work, as well as your customers. If you believe you do not have sufficient information or time during consultation, you should immediately raise this in writing with your manager.

FSU members can also access our fact sheet outlining your rights and entitlements regarding redundancy, redeployment and retrenchment at CBA here.

In the meantime, if you require support or assistance during this difficult period, please reach out to our Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378.
