The FSU is disappointed by the Victorian Government's decision to delay its promised work from home legislation until July 2027. The new laws, which were set to be debated and commence from September, would have provided workers with a legal right to work from home two days a week.
As finance workers, we know from first-hand experience that work from home works. Being able to work from home even a few days a week means less money spent on petrol, public transport and childcare, more time with families, and better flexibility.
With many employers now implementing office mandates, this legislation is vital to ensure we protect these benefits.
Despite Premier Ben Carroll insisting he supports working from home and flexible work arrangements, there was no need for this delay given it had bipartisan support from both major parties.
FSU members are reminded that they still have a right to flexible working arrangements. Nothing has changed in that regard.
