FSU menopause and menstrual survey – last chance to share your experience

Don’t miss your last opportunity to share your experiences of menopause and menstruation before our survey closes on Thursday 18 April.

This month, the Federal Government Inquiry into issues related to menopause and perimenopause accepted its final submissions. The FSU presented a submission on behalf of finance workers which you can read here.

We know that menopause and menstrual symptoms can seriously impact our working life. Early results from the FSU survey support this – over 50% offinance workers areless likely to apply for a promotion due to menstrual and menopausal symptoms and the lack of support and understanding at work.

The gender pay gap in our industry is incredibly high and there’s little question it’s heightened when 35% of menopausal workers are more likely to retire early than to ask their employer for changes to mitigate their symptoms.

The resulting lack of experienced women in senior highly paid roles exacerbates the pay gap. While 52% of finance workers are women, less than 35% are in the upper quartile of pay (top 25% of income earners) and 64% are in the lower quartile (lowest 25% of income earners). Find out more here.

We can’t afford to lose our most experienced workers due to a perfectly normal change experienced by over half the workforce! We need our employers to step up and support us during menopause.

Please complete our survey before 18 April. Data from our survey will be used to support enterprise bargaining claims for the introduction of a menopause and menstrual framework in every workplace.
