MyState’s EA voted up, but we still need to be heard

MyState’s proposed Enterprise Agreement has been voted up by a majority of employees.

We know this isn’t the result many of you hoped for. This outcome was by no means a strong endorsement of MyState’s proposal and in many ways reflects a broader cultural issue across the organisation where we aren’t valued and our feedback is dismissed.

However, we have much to be proud of during this Enterprise Agreement campaign. This is the first time employees at MyState stood up and said no. We are proud of the hard work FSU members put into achieving this result.

What improvements did we achieve?

  • After we voted no the first time, MyState improved their initial offer to up to 12% for bands A, B and C, and 10% for bands D and E.
  • The salary maximums clause was removed, which meant you would not receive a wage increase if you had reached the top of your pay band/level.
  • Relaxation of requirement to take 10 days annual leave, which is now ‘encouraged’.
  • Parental leave increased from 12 weeks to 14 weeks.
  • Reference to your right to disconnect (which is now law) now included.
  • The special paid leave clause, which sets out examples where you can request this leave.
  • An updated classification structure.

What happens now?

MyState will now prepare an application for the proposed Agreement to be approved by the Fair Work Commission. Our union will prepare a submission to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

We will continue to work hard to ensure MyState employees are recognised for the critical role we play.

Remember, strong union membership is the most effective way to leverage the outcomes we want at MyState. If you’re not a member of our union, join your colleagues today.
