The New South Wales Bank Holiday takes place on the first Monday in August each year.
On Monday 4 August, bank branches and branches of non-banks in NSW (such as credit unions and building societies), must not open unless they are staffed by employees who have freely elected to work on Bank Holiday.
This means unless you volunteer to work on Bank Holiday, you can’t be required or directed to work and your branch must not open.
There are, however, a few exceptions to when branches of credit unions and building societies can open on Bank Holiday:
