Overtime and workloads in the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

In the devastating wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, staff working at insurance organisations have already begun to see a significant increase in claims and calls from flood/storm affected customers.

It is in these difficult moments when the community relies on us the most, and when the work we do every day gets thrust into the public spotlight and we’re under pressure to deliver.

While we’re doing important work to support local communities and help people rebuild their lives, we must still look out for our own wellbeing, especially as our workloads increase.

Many enterprise agreements contain clauses that stipulate how additional hours and overtime can be requested and paid for by our employer. We strongly encourage you tocheck your enterprise agreement on our website to see what conditions may apply to you.

During times of natural disasters, it’s only normal to want to help as many people as quickly as possible. But remember, no one should have to work for free.

As always, our Member Rights Centre is here for you if you require any support or need advice. Call 1300 366 378 or email[email protected] and the FSU will do everything we can to assist you.

Thank you for the work you do every day to support our communities.
