Take some of the wins that unions campaigned to secure and which the Albanese Government recently legislated: 

• All workers now have the right to disconnect. 
• Superannuation is to be paid on Commonwealth paid parental leave (from July 2025). 
• Union members are winning bigger pay rises thanks to fairer bargaining laws. 
• Wage and super theft is now criminalised, with tough penalties. 
• The gender pay gap is closing three times faster than under the previous Liberal government. 

Things don’t end here – there’s a lot more that union members are striving to achieve in 2025, including: 

• Winning pay day super (the government has already committed to this). 
• Winning super on employer paid parental leave, and on every dollar earned. 
• Protecting the above wins from Peter Dutton’s Coalition, who want to scrap much of our hard-fought progress. 

As the federal election ramps up (it is due to be held by May 2025), we’ll be campaigning for commitments from our political leaders and highlighting what’s at stake for finance workers. 

Remember, decisions made by our government have a direct impact on workers’ rights, wages, and working conditions, so it’s vital that we participate in our democratic political process and do everything we can to make our voices heard.
