Many of you probably know of Michael Long – he’s one of the most recognisable Aboriginal figures in AFL football.
Since 2004, Michael has made a historic trek each year from the suburbs of Melbourne all the way to Parliament House in Canberra (more than 650 km away) to raise awareness for and advance the issues and concerns of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
This year, Michael is once again setting off from Melbourne to Canberra in support of the ‘Yes’ campaign for a First Nations Voice to Parliament.
The FSU are thrilled to sponsor a leg of Michael’s walk on Monday 4 September from Benalla to Beechworth in Victoria, and we invite members in the area to join us in walking with Michael.
