Equal Pay Day marks how far into the new financial year women must work to earn the same as men by 30 June.
When we calculate it from the economy-wide gender pay gap, Equal Pay Day falls on Tuesday 19 August. But because every workplace has a different gender pay gap, Equal Pay Day falls on a different date for each employer. For some, it’s just a few weeks after 30 June – for others, it’s months away!
Do you know when your workplace’s Equal Pay Day is or how many extra days women at your workplace have to work to earn the same amount as men?
Equal Pay Day is the best time to unpack what’s driving the gender pay gap in our sector, how it impacts our workplaces, and what can be done to close it. Book a lunch and learn session hosted by the FSU on a suitable business day close to your Equal Pay Day.
Download our Equal Pay Day poster, add your workplace’s data, and put it up in your lunchroom, on noticeboards, or anywhere your colleagues will see it. You can also find out more on our Smashing the gender pay gap campaign page.
Let’s make your Equal Pay Day the moment the conversation starts – and the gap begins to close.
