Spin? Or reality? Are employers preventing sexual harassment? FSU IWD 2026 event
Finance industry employers claim they are meeting their positive duty obligations in preventing…
Don’t forget to join us next week for our International Women’s Day event, where we will officially launch our new report Spin vs reality: Employer rhetoric and worker experiences of sexual harassment at work.
The findings reveal a clear gap between policy and practice. Only 18% of people we surveyed reported making a complaint, and 22% of those who did not report had experienced conduct that warranted a complaint but chose not to make one.
Low reporting appears to be giving employers a false sense of confidence, with workers continuing to report that conduct is being ignored, minimised or mishandled.
Join us for our International Women’s Day event as we officially launch the report. FSU National Secretary Julia Angrisano will present the findings and will be joined by Dr Emma F. Jackson and Dr Jamilla Rosdahl for a discussion on technology-facilitated sexual harassment, bystander inaction and what meaningful compliance with the positive duty should look like in practice. When: Thursday 5 March, 12pm – 1pm (AEDT)
Where: Online via Zoom
