Thanks to intense pressure from union members, the NSW Government has pressed pause on their rushed plan to restrict long-term mental health care for seriously injured workers.
That doesn’t mean the fight is over. The government still wants to increase the threshold for psychological injury support from 15% to 31% impairment – a level that would shut out 95% of workers from accessing long-term mental health care.
The pause does, however, mean we now have a chance to reform the system the right way, ensuring injured workers receive the support they need to recover and return to work.
