FSU Delegate and Westpac worker Isy Fish recently attended UNI Global Union‘s Youth Sustainability workshop all the way over in Nyon, Switzerland.
Isy shared her stories, views and experiences with more than 60 young people from 43 unions in 31 countries and discussed strategies to tackle climate change and its impact on workers.
“It’s important we mainstream the issue of climate change and consider it across all lenses – the climate emergency highlights the disproportionate impact the crisis has on women, first national people, people living with disability, and our most vulnerable global citizens,” Isy said.
“The banks need to act now and stop funding this global crisis with their continued investment in fossil fuels. We need our EBAs to provide employees with fair pay increases so that all workers can afford to do their bit to contribute to a sustainable future.”
