What does fair parental leave look like to you? Share your thoughts
Paid parental leave has changed thousands of lives across the finance industry –…
Last week, the FSU launched The leave revolution: The case for universal paid parental leave. It’s our new report that shows what happens when employers get paid parental leave (PPL) right, and what the rest of the sector needs to do to catch up.
Take NAB as an example. After NAB introduced its universal PPL policy, male workers taking primary parental leave went from 6 percent to a staggering 49 percent.
The FSU is now calling on all finance employers to commit to a simple principle: both parents get the same paid leave, at the same rate, with no "primary carer" hoops. That means equal weeks, full pay for both parents, no primary carer test, and super paid throughout.
We're also pushing for a government Paid Parental Leave Roundtable in early 2027 to make the national scheme simpler and easier for parents - especially fathers - to use.
