Westpac confirms 193 job cuts, after downplaying 1500 cuts leak

We’ve received distressing news from Westpac that they intend to cut 193 jobs – mere weeks after downplaying leaked reports of plans to cull 1500 jobs.

These cuts will come from all parts of the business, including technology, BT, commercial, HR, operations and effectiveness, consumer finance, and state retail divisions.

At the time of the leak, we asked Westpac directly to clarify the rumoured 1500 cuts, but they refused to confirm any details and downplayed the media reports. It’s clear they weren’t being honest, and with nearly 200 job cuts now announced, we must assume there may be more on the way.

Westpac needs to know how these job cuts affect their employees – both those who are made redundant and those left behind to pick up the workload.

Tell us how you’re impacted by these cuts

Westpac has stated publicly that they value and invest in their employees. It appears these are empty words. Now it’s time to call them out.
