Negotiations for our new People First Bank Enterprise Agreement have been progressing over the past few months.
Thanks to the great work of your FSU bargaining team – consisting of Oscar Neale (PFB Toowoomba) and Greg Lange (PFB Clifford Gardens) alongside other FSU members – we have made progress in some areas of our claims.
However, there are still other important areas where management need to improve their position if we’re to reach an offer worthy of our support.
The following table outlines some of these outstanding issues:
| FSU position | PFB position | |
|---|---|---|
| Pay | Pay increases of 5% each year over the life of the EA that fairly rewards your contributions, and compensates you for wage declines over the past few years due to high inflation. | Agreed to shift from performance-based pay model to fixed increases, but has only proposed wage increases totalling 7% over two years (including the 3% already paid in 2024). |
| Leave | All current and additional leave entitlements should be included in the EA to ensure they are protected and cannot be changed at management’s whim. | No firm commitments made on additional leave and management wants to limit leave that is more than the legal minimums to be based in policy only. |
| Job security | Redundancy entitlements should be included in the EA to ensure they are protected and cannot be changed at management’s whim. | Redundancy entitlements should be included in the EA to ensure they are protected and cannot be changed at management’s whim. |
| Flexible work | EA to include reference to right to work remotely/from home if your role allows, with appropriate notice if needing to be available for connections days. | Under consideration. |
If we are to shift management’s position on the above issues, then it’s vital they understand we care strongly enough about getting a fair deal.
If you haven’t already done so, please support what we’re calling for above by taking a few moments to sign our petition. The more people who sign it, the stronger our position will be when speaking with management during negotiations.
And if you have already signed it,please print this flyer and distribute it around your workplace and talk to your colleagues.
This agreement will set out our wages and working conditions for the next few years.
Once negotiated, it will be the first agreement for People First Bank, and will align the terms and conditions of employees who formerly worked for Peoples Choice and Heritage Bank.
For former Heritage Bank employees, this will mean being part of a collectively negotiated EA for the first time.
We’ve seen it time and time again: those workplaces where staff are engaged, active, and members of our union are the ones that achieve the best results.
If you’re not already a member of the team that’s fighting for better wages and conditions at People First Bank, now is thetime to join.
