Cutting jobs before Christmas? We demand choice and control

Our union has now lodged a dispute with Westpac regarding the bank’s failure to properly consult on retail job cuts.

Thank you to those members who attended our union meeting last week. Your feedback and concerns were heard loud and clear, and directly influenced our decision to lodge this dispute.

Specifically, we’re calling on Westpac to provide affected employees with choice and control when it comes to redundancies.

Only last month, management agreed to establish a $5 million capability fund to support existing retail staff to upskill for the future. Westpac should be further developing this fund to provide opportunities for affected employees.

At the very least, no one should be forced to leave their job just before Christmas.

If you’re not already a member of our union, to ensure you receive the protection and support you need.
