In addition to our dispute in the Fair Work Commission forcing CBA to backflip on its decision to replace 45 CSD roles with AI, the bank has also changed its tune on a further 11 roles that were due to be cut.
We’ve managed to save five roles in Broker Channel, another five in Consumer Finance, and a Digital Accessibility Manager role in Customer Engagement and Digital.
This win is further evidence of management’s failure to properly consult with staff and confirms that these redundancies were never genuine or necessary.
Redundancy dispute
Our dispute against CBA regarding its so-called ‘genuine’ redundancies in Technology also continues.
It’s incredibly telling that CBA admitted some of these roles are indeed required – but will nevertheless be fulfilled by overseas workers.
Following our last hearing where the Commission ordered CBA to answer our questions, CBA has provided draft FAQs and further information explaining how the roles in India differ from those being made redundant in Australia.
Unfortunately, what they’ve provided doesn’t even begin to answer our questions nor provide any clarity. We are therefore returning to the Commission on 23 September.
In the meantime, if you haven’t shared your experience regarding offshoring and AI at CBA,there’s still time to do so anonymously here.
Please rest assured that our union is doing everything possible to hold CBA accountable. If you’re not yet an FSU member, join today to strengthen our union and get the best protection.
