Bendigo responds to our job security demands. Join us at the AGM next week

Job security and offshoring remain significant concerns for Bendigo Bank workers. Next week we have an opportunity to put those concerns directly to Bendigo Bank CEO Richard Fennell and the board, and we’d love you to join us.

Bendigo Bank’s so-called ‘partnership’ with Infosys and Genpact has been nothing short of a disaster, with nearly 600 jobs being axed. These cuts are not only devastating for those who have lost their jobs, but also for those who are left behind and now fearful of what’s the come.

For months, FSU members have been demanding Bendigo Bank provide firm commitments around job security – to salvage what’s left of the bank and ensure workers are treated with dignity and respect.

Bendigo Bank has finally responded to our demands. Specifically, management has:

  • committed to seek employee preferences where their role is impacted by change, including for redundancies.
  • committed to no employment transfers to an outsourced company.
  • confirmed that on one will be expected to participate in blueprinting and knowledge transfer.

Bendigo Bank has also offered workers a 3.75% pay rise before Christmas, ahead of FSU members commencing negotiations for our next Enterprise Agreement in the new year.

Taking your concerns to the board

While management’s response to our demands goes some way to shifting the dial in workers’ favour, workers still hold grave concerns about the bank’s plans for further job cuts.

Bendigo Bank and its shareholders need to hear directly from workers – and importantly, be forced to look workers in the eye and explain what they’ve done. That’s why we’ll be at the AGM next week – and we’d love you to join us.

  • When: Tuesday 20 October, 11am (AEDT)
  • Where: Ulumbarra Theatre, Bendigo

If you’re in the Bendigo area and would like to attend as part of our FSU delegation, please reply to this email and we’ll be in touch.
