You may have seen BOQ’s recent email confirming salary increases from 1 September 2025. If it looked familiar, that’s because it was just a copy and paste of last year’s offer.
It falls well short of what we expect and deserve.
For three years, our pay increases haven’t kept up with inflation. A 3% pay rise doesn’t come close to addressing previous years’ wages decline or our widespread frustration with BOQ’s annual remuneration reviews.
BOQ says that they have looked at ‘market insights’ but compared to other banks, BOQ’s unilateral offer is one of the worst this year:
- People First Bank: 5%
- Westpac: 5%
- NAB: 4%
- BankVic: 4%
- CBA: 3.5%
- BOQ: 3% (or less)
Last week, we tabled our pay position at the Joint Consultative Group committee – seeking a 5.5% increase for all regardless of your Band. They’ve completely ignored our feedback and what members have said a fair pay rise should be.
Our opportunity to push back
Enterprise Agreement (EA) negotiations begin in a couple of months, which gives us a real opportunity to demand a reasonable pay rise and stronger conditions.
Keep an eye out for a survey from us where you can share your views on pay, working conditions, and what’s most important to you at BOQ. Your voice is key – and we want to make sure management hears it loud and clear.
Want to get involved in our 2026 EA campaign? Get in touch with your FSU Organiser Casey McDonald at [email protected] or 0434 161 454.
And if you’re not a union member yet, now’s the time to join. When we stand together, we win.
