BOQ OMB changes – more job cuts on the way

Despite earning $343 million last year, job cuts are on the cards at Bank of Queensland after it was revealed that not all Owner Managed Branch (OMB) staff will receive roles at BOQ Corporate.

We don’t yet know how many jobs will be cut, but we do know these cuts will have devastating consequences not only for those employees who may find themselves unemployed, but also for the remaining staff who will be expected to provide the same service with less people.

If you haven’t done so already, please take a few moments to provide your feedback. This will help us represent your concerns and push for fair outcomes during this period of uncertainty.

Provide feedback

Management had asked OMB employees to express their interest in other branches and roles. What they failed to say, however, was that you would not be considered for a position at BOQ Corporate if you did not complete your EOI.

If you haven’t yet submitted your EOI, please reply to this email and let us know so we can assist you.

Staff being left behind

This entire process by BOQ has been a shambles. While management has been plotting the takeover and finding ways to cut costs, you and your colleagues – the frontline workers who contributed to the bank’s profits – have been completely neglected.

Concerningly, many BOQ Owner Managed Branches are considered ‘small businesses’ due to having 15 or less employees, meaning some employees left without a job will receive no retrenchment payments.

It’s simply not good enough. In a letter to BOQ management, we’ve called on BOQ Corporate to employ all existing OMB staff and provide the respect and certainty you deserve.
