EXPOSED: CBA advertising jobs in India just axed in Australia

If 400 Technology jobs axed at CBA wasn’t already bad enough, the FSU has discovered that many of those jobs are now being advertised at CBA India.

We’ve exposed CBA’s ongoing agenda to shift Australian jobs overseas, so customers know Australia’s biggest bank doesn’t care about local jobs. See our coverage onABC’s The Business andnews.com.au.

Here’s what we know:

  • CBA has just announced they are cutting almost 300 Technology roles in Australia. This comes only months after they axed 100 Tech roles in March. Now CBA is advertising more than 100 Tech roles in CBA India.

  • Almost 70 jobs recently advertised in CBA India had the same job title as roles that were recently axed in Australia. These include Staff Data Engineer, Senior Software Engineers, Staff Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, Software Engineer, and Senior Data Engineer.

  • Jobs at CBA India almost doubled to 5630 between 2022 and 2024. During that same period, jobs at CBA Australia shrank by 4%.

  • CBA has complained about a shortage of tech workers in Australia. At the same time, they have cut local tech jobs in favour of cheap overseas labour.

Union meetings

We’re holding two FSU meetings on Tuesday 29 July to discuss our plan to call CBA out on its reckless job-cutting agenda. Please register for your preferred meeting below.

In person at CBA Foundry worksite, 12.30pm

Online via Microsoft Teams, 6pm

CBA is attempting to paint itself as a good corporate citizen by leading the way in productivity and AI. In reality, CBA is undermining Australian jobs and wages to maximise profits – which the Federal Government has said must not happen when pursuing increased productivity.

We’ll see you on 29 July to discuss next steps –and if you’re not already a member, now is the time to join to ensure you have the support and protection of the FSU.
