Recently FSU members across Bankwest branches have contacted the FSU about ‘fluid working’. Fluid working is a term used by Bankwest to describe a situation where a colleague is engaged in their branch role but then also does phone-based customer work.
Fluid working is a relatively new way of working that was first introduced in regional branches during down times and later in branches that are only open for part of the day. More recently it has been introduced in metropolitan branches and other regional branches that continue to operate full time five days a week.
Your union has contacted Bankwest to understand more about the requirements for fluid working based on members questions and concerns and can provide the following clarity for branch staff:
- Fluid working is by expression of interest and optional in metropolitan and regional branches that trade full time.
- You should not be treated different and there will be no impact on your values rating for not opting into fluid.
- Only those that are required to perform fluid work or have opted into fluid work have KPIs that refer to working across different customer channels so that they are recognised for the work being performed.
- If you feel that you are being pressured or coerced into opting into fluid working, please contact your FSU.
Tell us about your experience with fluid working
We are keen to understand your experiences with fluid working and any feedback, questions or concerns that you have that Bankwest need to address and ask that you complete a short survey.
If you have any further questions please contact your union organiser Tamsyn Berndt on 0434 161 046 or by email to fsuinfo@fsunion.org.au
