We met with IAG management yesterday and true to form, they have put forward a minimum pay offer that does not recognise our contributions and is frankly just insulting.
IAG are proposing an 8.75% guaranteed pay increase over three years for Tiers 1 to 3, and a lesser 6.75% pay increase over three years for Tiers 4 to 6. There are also NO improvements to current conditions that have been provided to our other industry colleagues.
This just doesn’t cut it.
This first pay offer falls far behind what other large insurance companies (like Zurich and BUPA) have offered their staff this year.
In the last six months, both Zurich and BUPA introduced guaranteed pay into their Enterprise Agreements for the first time. This is in addition to the existing discretionary pay. In December last year, Zurich workers received a guaranteed 9.5% increase over three years. In March this year, our BUPA colleagues won 13% for non-salaried staff and 9.5% for those on salaries.
Remember, our previous pay increase was already far below our industry colleagues – you can view a comparison here.
