Last week, we met with IAG management and presented our claim for inclusive leave entitlements, adequate staffing levels and strengthening the dispute resolution process in the Enterprise Agreement (EA).
You can view our full claim here.
IAG said they will further respond to these claims in future meetings, but have already provided an in-principle agreement over arbitration when handling EA disputes. While this is good news, we are still in the early stages of negotiations with many of your key issues yet to be discussed.
IAG also provided further details around their claim concerning redundancy, redeployment and retrenchment entitlements. The changes they propose include:
- Reducing the job search period from 3 months to 8 weeks.
- The introduction of a 12 month service requirement before becoming eligible for retrenchment payments if made redundant.
- Removing income protection insurance.
Our union position is that there should be no reduction in redeployment, redundancy and retrenchment entitlements in the new EA. We are seeking further information on the impact of this proposal and will seek your feedback on this and other issues as we progress through this process.
In the meantime, let IAG know how you feel about this proposal.

Pay is a critical issue
We know that pay is one of the major issues for our members. While we haven’t yet discussed remuneration, it’s vital we prepare for these conversations by letting IAG know why the skyrocketing cost of living is a major factor in these negotiations.
Here are three reasons why we’re asking IAG management to step up on pay.
Get involved
There’s lots members can to do to make sure we get a good outcome at the bargaining table. Getting involved and staying informed is a critical part of achieving real outcomes in 2024.
During the campaign, make sure you continue to send your feedback (confidentially) using the “share your feedback” button above.
