IAG slashes hundreds of jobs in Retail Insurance – Urgent FSU meeting

By now, many of you have heard the devastating news: IAG has announced massive job cuts across Retail Insurance, with 214 roles on the line.

After reporting an enormous $1.42 billion profit in 2023/24, this decision shows a complete disregard for the hard work and dedication we’ve all put in. At the same time, CEO Nick Hawkins gives himself a 78% pay increase bringing his total salary to a whopping $5.23 million – all while slashing hundreds of our jobs.

So instead of being rewarded, we’re now facing job losses and impossible workloads for those of us left behind.

The impacted roles include (approximate numbers):

  • Customer Experience: 3 roles
  • Digital Business: 31 roles
  • Direct Claims: 10 roles
  • Distribution: 150 roles
  • Finance and Motor Fulfilment: 5 roles
  • Product, Pricing and Governance: 14 roles
  • Strategic Enablement: 1 role

IAG has also announced an additional three positions will be cut from Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA).

This heartless announcement, made during a cost-of-living crisis, is a slap in the face to all of us who have sacrificed so much for the company over the years.

Insultingly, IAG has only proposed a one-week consultation period – simply not enough time to address such significant changes that affect so many.
