NSW members: Are you being monitored at work?

NSW’s workplace surveillance laws are more than 20 years old. They were introduced in 2005 – before smartphones, widespread working from home, workplace apps, and today’s AI technology.

A lot has changed since then.

Unions NSW is conducting an important survey for workers in NSW to find out how employers are using technology for workplace surveillance and whether it is affecting your privacy, safety, stress, ability to take breaks, or your day-to-day working life.

You might have experienced:

  • GPS or location tracking
  • Computer or phone monitoring
  • Productivity or performance tracking
  • Automated rostering or allocation of work
  • AI making or recommending decisions about your work
  • Monitoring while working from home
  • Biometric or facial recognition technology
  • Other forms of workplace surveillance

The survey is confidential, though your responses may be used in de-identified research, campaign materials, media, submissions and advocacy for stronger workplace surveillance laws.
