Our pressure on NAB is working – but we’re not backing down

Our collective pressure on NAB CEO Andrew Irvine and his Executive team is working. But we are not backing down until NAB delivers meaningful commitments to its workers.

Yesterday, I met directly with Andrew Irvine and put to him the devastating stories and concerns thousands of NAB workers have shared through our mass member meetings and open letter.

Among other things, I put two clear demands to the CEO:

  • No NAB worker should be forced out of their job before Christmas.
  • The consultation period must be extended beyond Thursday 5 November, giving workers a genuine opportunity to understand and respond to the proposed changes.

Since that meeting, we have held further constructive discussions with senior NAB representatives about our demands.

We have agreed to one final meeting with NAB on Monday, where we expect a definitive response. If NAB fails to deliver, we are prepared to escalate the dispute to the Fair Work Commission by close of business that day.

Heading into another weekend of uncertainty is simply not good enough. NAB workers deserve better than being left to wonder whether they will still have a job at Christmas.

But make no mistake: your collective action is making a difference. Every worker who has attended a meeting, signed our open letter or spoken up has helped build the pressure on Andrew Irvine and his Executive team.

We must keep up that pressure. NAB needs to understand that we will not accept thousands of workers being treated as expendable.

I will update you on Monday afternoon with NAB’s response and our next steps.

In unity,
