Patrick Allaway is leaving behind a mess

When Patrick Allaway leaves BOQ this week, he will no doubt have many positive things to say about his record at the bank.

His claims will likely be as convincing as management’s continued spin around how well Enterprise Agreement negotiations are going.

To set the record straight – negotiations are not going well, because BOQ continues to reject the majority of our claims.

In particular, they’ve flat out refused to include any protections around the current office attendance requirements protecting your right to work from home.

They’ve also refused critical job security measures, such as no further outsourcing or offshoring, and no net reduction in retail branches.

It’s time BOQ management showed some respect and listened to the vast majority of their employees. If you haven’t done so already, support our campaign and stand with your colleagues across BOQ.

What has BOQ management rejected?

Pay and rewards

  • Rejected our call for 5% wage increases and back pay.
  • Rejected our claim for transparent pay, rewards and classification structures.
  • Rejected our claim for you to have the right to request a pay review.

Secure jobs

  • Refused to commit to no further outsourcing or offshoring.
  • Refused to commit to no reduction in retail branches.
  • Refused to commit to no redundancies due to AI.

Office attendance and working from home

  • Refused to commit to no change to the office attendance requirement.

Staffing and workload relief

  • Refused to do anything to address staffing and workload concerns.

We should all be outraged by management’s complete dismissal of our genuine attempts to make our working lives better at BOQ. Let us know you’re with us.

As a new CEO takes the reigns, we have a choice – to trust they do the right thing for workers, or to stand up and demand they listen to our genuine concerns.
