IAG staff have voted in favour of our new IAG Enterprise Agreement (EA), with 79% voting YES.
Together, we have significantly improved pay at IAG compared to previous EAs and delivered several improvements to conditions. These include:
- A fixed minimum pay increase of 9.5% over three years for career bands 1-3 (EA level 1-4) and 7.5% for career bands 4-5 (EA level 5-6). Discretionary pay arrangements will continue to apply above these minimum rates. IAG have agreed to remove the cap for employees at the top of their salary band so all employees will receive an increase to their base salary.
- An increase to paid parental leave from 14 to 20 weeks with the removal of the 12-month qualifying period in the current EA. The paid parental leave clause has also been revised to be gender neutral allowing wider access.
- An increase to domestic and family violence (DFV) leave from 10 days leave to uncapped leave and 10 days DFV leave for those supporting others.
- The introduction of five days “MyLeave” that can be used for any purpose with any single day taken without requiring management approval.
- Work from home introduced into the EA for the first time. This inclusion means that working from home is a formally recognised flexible work arrangement and is covered by the “Resolving Workplace Issues” clause in the new Agreement.
While we celebrate these improvements won by FSU members, there are changes IAG have introduced that will impact existing entitlements. Income protection has been removed from the redundancy, redeployment and retrenchment clause and the job search period has been reduced from 12 to 8 weeks. In addition, the four days personal/emergency leave entitlement has been removed from the EA. While the five days MyLeave arrangement can be used for this purpose, this leave is now pro-rata for part time employees.
Overall, our FSU National Committee at IAG believe the benefits of this Agreement outweigh the negatives. However, there is more work to do, and we’ll be working hard to ensure that we continue the momentum we’ve built for positive change.
Next steps
The Agreement will now be submitted to the Fair Work Commission for final approval. Once approved, our EA will commence.
Our ability to negotiate for better conditions and pay through bargaining directly relates to our strength on the ground. While pay is an improvement, there is more to do over the next three years.
To continue achieving further outcomes in areas such as pay, hours of work and work/life balance, we must make sure union members continue to be strong and active across IAG – so if you’re not yet an FSU member, now is the time to join!
If you’re already a member, ask a colleague to join the team that’s winning for you today.
