Westpac announces more job cuts, revealing true intentions with Catalyst

Westpac has announced another round of job cuts this week linked to their Catalyst program, with Westpac proposing over 200 redundancies and approximately 100 positions moving to comparable roles. A significant number of teams will be impacted, including BT, Everyday Banking, Private Wealth, Technology, Business Lending, Cash & Transactional Banking Operations, Finance and Enterprise Delivery, Business and Wealth, Consumer, Digital and Data Technology, and Consumer COO Technology.

These cuts are in addition to the 102 already announced earlier this month, bringing the total job cuts to over 300. It is now clear that Westpac's assurances that their engagement with Catalyst was not a job-cutting exercise was nothing more than an empty promise.

It seems Westpac is determined to cause maximum distress to workers on the eve of Christmas, and the FSU is deeply concerned that there may be more announcements to come.
