Westpac: FSU members win final improvements to EA proposal

As a result of negotiations over the last few months, Westpac Group employees now have a Westpac Group Enterprise Agreement (EA) proposal that will provide competitive pay and improvements to conditions.

In light of recent consultation meetings with FSU members and improvements won in the overall package, our FSU National Westpac Committee of Reps has agreed we are now in a position to recommend this proposal to members.

Together, union members have significantly shifted Westpac from their original below market pay offer and delivered a number of improvements to conditions. Importantly, all existing entitlements have been protected in this new proposal with no loss of conditions.

Improvements to the current EA include:

  • Pay increases of 12.5% over three years for tier 1 employees and 9% for tier 2. No change to existing arrangements for employees above tier 2.
  • Cultural, lifestyle and wellbeing days increased from two to four days per year.
  • Compassionate leave increased from three to five days per occasion.
  • New five days family pathways leave to support employees in attending appointments related to fertility treatment, surrogacy, adoption and foster care.

At the last meeting, Westpac management agreed to a final improvement introducing a new Joint Consultative Committee between Westpac and FSU representatives to provide opportunities for feedback and engage in discussions about artificial intelligence and the future of work for employees.

Next steps

Over the next month or so, Westpac intends to put this proposal to a ballot of workers covered by the EA. FSU information sessions will be held in the lead-up to the ballot to ensure members are fully informed about what is on offer.
