Westpac job cuts: Risk, Institutional Banking and Finance – FSU support

Westpac has announced a proposed restructure of its Risk, Institutional Banking and Finance teams, which will impact 174 jobs. This includes 102 redundancies and another 72 positions moving to comparable roles.

FSU members are concerned by this announcement. When Westpac engaged Catalyst earlier this year, management assured us that it was not a job-cutting exercise. With 102 jobs going due to Catalyst, members have lost faith in any management promises.

Your rights and FSU support

Consultation regarding these proposed restructures is now underway. Your FSU representatives are engaging with Westpac over these proposed changes and it’s important your views are heard. If you have any feedback or concerns, please reply to this email.

This is a difficult time for everyone impacted by these changes. If you are impacted, please reach out to the union for support.

Remember, under our Westpac Enterprise Agreement, you have rights and are entitled to fair process and proper consultation. Management is required to:

  • consult with you about the introduction of these proposed changes.
  • speak with you about the effects the changes are likely to have on you.
  • consider your feedback and any proposed alterations you have.
  • implement measures to avert or mitigate the adverse effects of the changes.

If you are not yet a member of our union, now is the time to join to ensure you get the support you need.
