Westpac axes more jobs: URGENT FSU MEETING

In another callous and cost-cutting week at Westpac, further job cuts have pushed job losses to over 500.

116 permanent roles will be axed across Premier Banking. If that wasn’t enough, WBC also advised that jobs will be cut at Mortgage Ops and across Commercial Relationship Banking.

If you have been impacted by these latest changes, join us for a meeting on Monday 19th June at 12 noon (AEST). Register below.

More job cuts are on the way

Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of devastating job losses at Westpac. The bank have stated more cuts are on the way but have not confirmed where or when these cuts will take place.

Their excuse for these job cuts has been the need to manage expenses due to economic certainty. Meanwhile Westpac staff themselves are losing jobs in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis.

We know many members are very distressed about what is happening in the bank right now and the way Westpac has undertaken these cuts has been completely callous and caused a massive shock to many.

If you haven’t already, please complete our feedback form so we can consolidate and demonstrate the significant emotional and financial impact these cuts have caused.

When will the job cuts end?

With more job cuts on the way, we will be writing to a range of stakeholders calling on them to step in and hold Westpac accountable.

We have already called on Westpac to provide detail about how decisions about these job cuts are being made and the need for transparency around any further cuts.

We understand this is a difficult time and it’s more important than ever that we stand together and let Westpac know we won’t stand for these cuts – our work matters. Please reach out to your FSU Organiser or call our Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378 for support and advice.
