WIN! Employer withdraws unreasonable suspension following FSU intervention
When FSU member Andrew Dickinson's employer suspended him and directed him to complete…
In a significant win for flexibility and work/life balance at SS&C Technologies, FSU members at 800 Bourke Street have secured a 50% reduction in office attendance requirements for February.
Employees affected by the 800 Bourke Street closure will now be required to attend the office for three days instead of the usual six for the entire month of February. These three days may be completed at either 800 Bourke Street (when available) or the La Trobe Street site, providing greater flexibility and certainty for staff.
This terrific win comes after affected staff were given just a few days’ notice to reorganise their work and personal lives after being told the office would close for the latter half of February.

Led by FSU Representative Em Krieg, staff raised concerns about the difficulty with meeting ordinary office attendance expectations while the office was closed.
In particular, members highlighted the impacts on personal commitments, travel time, and caring arrangements.
Em said staff initially felt disappointed and disrespected when they were first told of the change to office arrangements with such short notice.
“By standing up for ourselves and telling the company it wasn’t good enough, we were able to influence management’s decision and reduce the number of office days required for impacted employees,” Em said.
“It just goes to show that if we work together, we have the power to change things for the better.”
