Jobs are at risk under Bendigo’s appalling offshoring “partnership”

Our union was appalled to learn of Bendigo Bank’s ‘partnership agreements’ with Infosys and Genpact, which was announced to the ASX yesterday. We have publicly condemned this reckless decision, which represents a dramatic and dangerous escalation in the fight to protect Australian jobs during the AI disruption.

The announcement portrayed this as a done deal between Bendigo Bank and these two global tech organisations – but Bendigo Bank must first engage in genuine consultation with employees.

If implemented, work that is currently performed across many areas of the bank by Bendigo employees in Australia will either be replaced by AI or automation, outsourced or be offshored to workers overseas.

To make matters worse, Bendigo representatives could not outline the exact number of roles that may be impacted by this decision – which tells us they clearly do not understand the full ramifications of what they are doing.

We urge all FSU members at Bendigo Bank to attend our meeting next week, where we will outline what we know so far, what we will do next, and your rights and entitlements.
