Hostplus Agreement approval process – FSU concerns
The Fair Work Commission (FWC) is currently reviewing our new Hostplus Enterprise Agreement…
We understand Hostplus has informed employees about a four-week discovery program with Vergence AI, as management explores how AI may be used at Hostplus in the future.
Today, the FSU wrote to Hostplus management to request an urgent briefing on the program, including its objectives, the teams involved, the work being undertaken by Vergence AI, and management’s plans for employee and union engagement.
While it’s promising that management have stated there are no plans to use AI to reduce the size of the Hostplus workforce, our Enterprise Agreement still requires management to consult with employees and their union on proposed changes that are likely to have a significant impact on your work.
It is also in management’s own interests to seek your input from the outset. Remember, you understand the work you do better than anyone else, so any decisions about how AI is employed at Hostplus will be enhanced by genuine consultation with employees.
We are awaiting a response from Hostplus and will keep you informed of any further updates.
Ethical adoption of AI in the finance sector – including protecting your job security and ensuring the benefits of AI are shared with workers – is a priority for our union. Read more about our AI campaign here.
If you’re not yet a member of the FSU, join today to ensure you receive the support and protection you need at Hostplus.
