The Fair Work Commission (FWC) is currently reviewing our new Hostplus Enterprise Agreement for approval.

While the FSU respects the outcome of the recent vote, as part of the approval process our union has raised concerns regarding the Agreement with the FWC. These relate to clauses that we believe fall below the Banking, Finance and Insurance (BFI) Award.

Specifically:

• Working up to 50 ordinary hours under the new Agreement is far less beneficial compared with the BFI Award, which caps ordinary hours at 38 per week.
• Part-time employees must meet certain conditions before being entitled to overtime pay under the new Agreement, whereas part-time employees are entitled to overtime pay for all hours worked above their ordinary hours under the BFI Award.
• The new Agreement does not contain the BFI Award entitlement to the ‘right to disconnect’ from reading or answering emails or taking calls after hours.

As your union, it is vital that we ensure this Agreement is legally compliant. It is critical we ensure that Hostplus employees are protected, our entitlements are fair, and our new Agreement does not leave you worse off overall compared to the Award.

We will continue to work with the FWC and Hostplus management to resolve these issues as quickly as possible to secure the best possible Agreement for everyone at Hostplus.
